How To Create A Cable Knit Heart Nail Design

How To Create A Cable Knit Heart Nail Design

Winter is just around the corner and, here at Glitterbels, we are already on the lookout for cute designs for the chilly time of the year. We sat down with our amazing ambassador @staceymachin and she showed us one of her favourite designs for winter.

So, as usual, get comfy and cosy and read along with us as we learn how to do this gorgeous, sugared cable knit jumper nail art with a cute twist.

Step 1:

Prep the nail or tip with the Glitterbels Dehydrator, Acid Free Primer, and Basecoat, and then apply your first coat of gel. You can choose whatever colour you like. Stacey picked Blue Avenue from the Glitterbels Unbelievabel Gel range. Once you have cured for 60 seconds, apply a second layer of your chosen gel, if needed.

Step 1Step 1 -

Step 2:

Topcoat the base colour and then take your Glitterbels Magic Shine File and matte your base colour.

Step 2

Step 3:

Take a Glitterbels Fine Liner Brush and dip it in the same colour you used for the base colour of your nail. Start by drawing two thin lines at the top of the nail from the cuticle down and stop about halfway down.

Step 3

Step 4:

Draw the top of a heart in the centre of the nail, making sure it connects to the two lines you drew previously.

Step 4Step 4 -

Step 5:

Once the heart is drawn, continue the two lines you drew earlier, from the top of the nail to the tip.

Step 5

Step 6:

Once you have your heart and lines drawn, go in with the same colour gel and fine liner and draw little lines in between the two long vertical ones. This will create the cable knit look. Once you have done these, connect them with a diagonal line.

Step 6Step 6 -

Step 7:

Add some extra little lines on the outside of the longer lines you drew down the nail at the beginning of the process. These lines should be slanted to perfect the look of the cable knit.

Step 7

Step 8:

This is one of our favourite steps in this design process. Be sure to have a pot of Glitterbels Glass Slippers clear acrylic powder and a cuticle tool. Hold the nail over the pot and scoop the clear acrylic out and over the wet gel design to create the sugaring effect. Make sure that all of the wet gel is covered in acrylic before tapping off the excess powder and curing for 60 seconds.

Step 8

Step 9:

Once the design is cured, take it out of the lamp and use your dust brush to remove any more powder and you will be left with the perfect Heart Cable Knit design. A truly perfect nail design for the winter months!
