How to apply Acrylic Powder for the perfect base

We prepared a handy video on How to apply Acrylic Powder for the perfect base but we know that not everyone will have the opportunity to watch it so we have transcribed the video for you below:
  • There are three different types of Glitterbels Acrylic powder. Today we are going to create the perfect nail base with the Glitterbels Core Powder range. This range of acrylic powder is a strength powder and doesn’t need to be capped like our colour & glitter powders. The Core powder range comes in a variety of nudes, whites and clear.

  • You will first need to prep the natural nail and apply a tip with the Glitterbels Effortless Adhesion Glue. Once the tip is secure to the natural nail, cut the tip to size and file into shape. Glitterbels offers a range of different tips for your perfect shape. You will need to blend the area where the tip meets the natural nail, to avoid a lip.

  • Find the perfect fit and apply the tip to the natural nail with glue.

  • Once secure, cut the tip down to your preferred length and file.

  • Be sure to blend the tip into the natural nail, so lips or bumps don’t occur.

  • To activate acrylic powder you will need to use monomer. Glitterbels has a range of monomers to choose from. Pour your monomer into your dappen dish and saturate your prepped Acrylic Brush in the liquid. Drain off some of the excess liquid by tapping the belly of the brush on the side of your dappen dish. You are now ready to pick up and apply your first acrylic bead.

  • We always suggest applying a thin layer of clear acrylic powder to the nail before applying anything else. This makes it easier for you to file down to a clear base, ready for a change in nail design!

  • Apply your first bead near the cuticle area and pat into shape, being careful not to flood the cuticle.

  • Use the tip of your brush to disperse the acrylic down the nail.

  • When you thin layer of clear acrylic has been applied and set, go in with your base colour.

  • Start in the middle, to build your structure and drag the product towards the tip of the nail

  • Then focus on your cuticle area, making sure you're building an apex.

  • Be sure to file the side walls, free the edge and smooth out any bumps for a clean look.

  • Remove any dust with a dust brush and you are ready to add art or topcoat.
